Customizing the Front Page template

This custom template helps to introduce your business or organization to the site’s visitors. The Front Page template has six sections:

  • Introduction
  • Feature page #1
  • Feature page #2
  • Recent blog posts
  • Recent testimonials
  • Homepage-specific widget area

All sections are optional except the Introduction section. When you first activate  Fortune, your homepage will display posts in a traditional blog format. If you’d like to use the Front Page template instead, follow the "Setting up your pages" instructions here.

Introduction

The Introduction section displays your homepage title and content along with a Featured Image:

  1. Add some introductory text to the page that has the Front Page template. For best results, we recommend a couple of paragraphs.
  2. The page’s Featured Image is displayed behind your intro text.

Featured Pages #1 and #2

These sections are optional. There are two ways to display your content in these sections; you can either have a grid layout or a full-width layout.

Grid layout

  1. Head to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Front Page Template Options, and click Configure under Featured Page #1 or Featured Page #2.
  2. Under Featured Page, select the parent page that has child pages.
  3. Under Section Layout, choose a layout for your grid from the dropdown list.
  4. Click Publish at the top of your screen to save the changes.

In order to add a small description at the top of this section, you need to add content to the parent page. You can use the More block or Excerpt module to truncate this content.
